Helping Great Service Companies Stay That Way

I’ve got my fingers crossed, hoping some good employment matches emerged from our first Service Industry Job Fair.

The recent event, at our Indianapolis headquarters, put scores of job-seekers in front of 30 Central Indiana companies looking to fill positions ranging from management to general labor to sales to plumbing.

The fair is part of our response to the nationwide problem of good service companies having trouble finding qualified employees.

As the link between millions of consumers and top-rated service providers, Angie’s List is uniquely positioned to promote the need for and value of skilled-trade and service jobs. In the end, we want to help great companies stay that way, which is the best insurance that consumers will get the excellent service they expect.

We heard from job applicants that they appreciated being able to meet directly with representatives of companies with jobs. Service providers said they liked the chance to assess in person how well a potential employee might represent their business.

It was a good experience for everyone, including me and my team of Angie’s List volunteers. Now, we’re taking what we learned and starting to plan the next job fair, which we want to be even better.
